About Us

Founded in 2024 in Jos, Plateau State, Back to Base Initiative for Vulnerable People was born from a desire to give voice to the unheard. Our work is rooted in justice, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves dignity, protection, and opportunity, regardless of background.

Our Mission

A just and inclusive society where all individuals—regardless of gender, status, or circumstance—can live in dignity, free from violence, exclusion, and discrimination.

Our Vision

To promote justice, empower vulnerable populations, and strengthen community-based systems of care by delivering timely, trauma-informed interventions and advocating for equity and human rights.

Members

Mrs. Jennifer Jacob Yarima is a seasoned journalist, community leader, and advocate for human rights and gender equity. She hails from the Abwor-Dyis community in the Lankan District of Pankshin Local Government Area, Plateau State, Nigeria. Married to Mr. Jacob Yarima Danok, they are blessed with two children: Cherish Bamnan and Nanakyen Yarima. With a distinguished career in journalism, Mrs. Yarima currently serves as Features Editor at The Nigeria Standard Newspaper, a publication of the Plateau Publishing Corporation. Her commitment to amplifying lost voices and advancing women’s representation in the media led her to serve as Secretary and later Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Plateau State Chapter. Beyond journalism, she is a passionate human rights advocate and grassroots mobilizer. She has played an active role in advancing the rights and welfare of women and vulnerable populations through her leadership in various community-based initiatives. She also serves as a women’s leader in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Local Church Council, Nassarawa Gwong, Jos. Mrs. Yarima is the founder of Back to Base Initiative for Vulnerable People, a nonprofit organization established in 2024, which is committed to promoting justice, dignity, and empowerment for marginalized individuals and communities across Nigeria. Through her leadership, the organization strives to build inclusive support systems and restore hope to those most at risk.
